Our thanks to everyone for the messages of support we have received following the Christchurch earthquakes. Yep…there have been a few (well quite a lot) aftershocks, but we’re all OK down here, getting on with it…business as usual. Christchurch is picking itself up, dusting itself off and getting on with it. And as the Lonely Planet Guide says, ‘Christchurch is re-merging as one of New Zealand’s most exciting cities if not one of the bravest and most resilient! Come and spend a few days and support all the new businesses inspiring Christchurch’s renaissance.’ We are continuing to operate out of our Sydenham depot for ALL Christchurch business (sales, vehicle pick-ups and drop-offs etc.) and it’s all good. The depot is located just 5 minutes south of the city at 15 Kingsley Street, Sydenham. click here for a map outlining where that depot is located. With all of the road closures in and around Christchurch, the best access to our depot is via Christchurch Southern Motorway/Brougham Street. Each Campervan sleeps up to 3 adults and is individually painted by one of our talented artists. Our Campers are fully equipped with bedding, beach chairs, kitchen facilities/utensils and more. We also provide 24 hour roadside assistance and a ‘No Hidden Costs’ price policy for complete peace of mind. Escape has depots centrally located in Auckland and Christchurch and we’re a small, friendly team passionate about New Zealand. We provide bedding, cutlery, crockery, kitchen utensils, gas cooker, heater and more.
One way hires and cheap ferry crossing
New Zealand is made up of two large islands, ‘imaginatively’ named ‘the North Island’ and the ‘South Island’. The stretch of water between these islands is called the Cook Strait, and whilst it may not look far, it takes about 3 ½ hours to cross from one island to the other on one of the ferry services. Escape Campervans recommends ‘Bluebridge Ferries’ who operate between Wellington and Picton.
Escape Campervans are cheaper on the ferry than other larger motorhomes, so if you’re booking your ferry crossing, make sure they know you’re with Escape. It should cost you about $120 for the camper and around $55 per person for a one way crossing and we’ll give you a voucher to book this discounted rate when you pick your van up. And it pays to book this service in advance, particularly over Christmas or during the summer period. To find out more or to book you ferry crossing, click here.

We only take a $300 deposit to secure your booking. Just pay the balance when you collect your camper.
